No he had just been woken from a nap and come into the cabin. He was then told that he would be passing a military aircraft going in the opposite direction 1000ft below but then saw Venus and thought he was about to hit head on, so I guess no time to check, and he dived the aircraft 500ft. The injured passengers were not buckled up even though the lights were on.
