Well, it's lucky that we have the F1 premiere in Melbourne tomorrow to look forward to...
Seriously, the game was released the 25:th of march in the CIS a year ago - why not celebrate that with a patch that fixes the game? Then we are ready to forgive this year of pain Besides, I "rediscovered" IL2 version 4.11 after a discussion here in the forum last week. Every time I go back to the old beauty I realize that waiting a few more weeks is not that much of a problem. We have 200+ of beautiful aircraft and maps all over the world with rock solid MP. It's really not that far from the Grail accept that the CEM and visuals of the cockpits in CloD has made us picky... The problem is that many of us have put IL2 on the shelf waiting for the magic patch, which makes the pain worse than it has to. Fire up Hyperlobby and forget the childish attitude of the devs in Moscow that don't understand that people have a right to be really disappointed with a game that for the last six months cannot run for more than 30-60 minutes in multi player without crashing... And MP is what many of us live for in computer simulations as fighting an AI gets boring quite fast. As the situation has developed here lately I have even started dreaming of Gaijin making some shock surprise out of World of Planes with a decent FM? They claim to work on an improvement of the FM with more realism. I really start to get scared that MG is going belly up soon, so what else is there to dream of? That P-51 in DCS? Will take ages before we have a plane set that makes it compete with anything... 777 Studios stopping their mass production of $10 WWI kites and going 20 years forward? Not in a couple of years... It feels like the dawn of WWII flight simulations is finally going over into pitch black night

Because, and here's an outside of the box thought... because it's not ready yet.

Agreed... The Il2 with mods can be a real tension buster.
If it were being released today with all the mods, and there was no COD it would be a best seller for sure. Fact is, we are all wanting and waiting for something even better. The AI is improved in IL2, big step forward. A zillion aircraft and maps. The FMB is improved as well, not as good as it could be, but still better. So, before you waste your time whining, complaining and expressing your anxieties about COD take your positive energy to IL2 you won't be disappointed. |

I've refrained from posting on this lack of update subject. And I gotta say standing off on the side and watching both the behavior of the forumites and the devs has me beside myself.
I'm not a hate boy, or a fan boy, I like the game but I know it needs work. But this whole argument lies squarely on the devs here. If you aren't going to release updates every week, DON'T RELEASE THEM AT ALL. All you have done is create a Friday culture that just leads to disappointment when you do not release anything, and the current state of the game just exacerbates the anger of lack of info. But to have a post from the admin saying do not whine or complain about this. You do realize that these are your customers right? The people that keep you afloat? the ones that make or break you? Maddox you have been great up until the last 2 weeks, but you have lost a lot of credibility as professionals, with how you are treating your consumers. Just my 2 cents, I love the game, and look forward to playing it without crashing. Cheers! |

Well I must say it has been an interesting last couple of days - first making the decision to get back into WWII combat flight simming, and being a previous lover of the IL2 series, finally pulling the trigger and purchasing the sim , after holding off since it was released due to what all I have read on the forums. And spending some time trying to catch up on things on the forums here once again, and reading up on some of the great faq's.
It is installed and I am ready to start with it - I guess would be nice to have this new patch that is forthcoming right out the chute, but it is what it is. It will be interesting to check out the performance in the state it is right now, versus what it will be after the patch, on my current system. My next step will be to start planning how to map out my controls to my Cougar HOTAS- looks like will be quite a task ahead of me there in that alone. Who knows, the patch may well be out by the time I finally get around to clicking the play button! I have been reading these update threads, and the crystal ball thread, and must say I guess I really have no opinion on either side of the aisle. Developers who give out approximate time frames and for unforeseen circumstances are not able to meet them, always lose out due to the criticism, oftentimes harsh, from the customer base. Even though they may be taking every precaution they can, to assure the patch they send out is as bug free as it possibly can be. Then there is the loyal customer base, struggling because of some really big issues, that are given an app time frame or teaser, then things stay quiet for a while, well that can be really frustrating for them as well. But while I would be considered I guess a newbie at this point, I am enjoying sitting on the sidelines reading the dialogue going back and forth between the sides, cheap entertainment I guess. I will soon be giving the sim a try, and if all else fails whilst I am having this itch I seem to have of late for WWII combat, I do still have my updated IL2 1946 ready to go at a moment's notice. Oh, and I did pull the trigger today, on a new 2gb EVGA GTX 560 TI vid card, should have it early next week. Hopefully I will be well prepared for the patch.
