It surely can be installed later, since it doesn't overwrite any of the files in later patches. It just replaces the default skins (which were rather outdated and ugly) for most of the eastern front planes with better ones.
You wrote the same in this post, but if a member of Team Daidalos writes it cannot, I rather believe him, no offense meant.
