I respect the cash offer.

But why the Defiant? It was a death trap.

Isn't there a precedent for this? I know for sure I saw some flight-simmers chipping in to get content modelled and added into the old Il-2 series. Can't for the life of me remember where I saw it or the extent of the content that was paid for. Pretty sure it was a bomber, or the cockpits required to make one flyable. I think it might have all folded when it became clear, based on the rates for the completed project, just how much it would cost to get further stuff modelled. Might have been a russian project, anyone else remember that?

This would seem like an ideal 'kickstarter' project. However, I would be very nervous about the follow through of whoever took on the job. Not saying that people can't do it, but I've seen a lot of mods and conversions and whatnot go belly up simply because the people who were doing it lost interest or the project became too big/hard.

That said, I'll put in a few dollars for various projects like this if there were reasonable assurances that they would be completed.

This has no sense until the sdk will be released to the public. With only third party 3d models you have nothing right now in the sim.
Anyway I´m a professional 3d modeler, and I think to model an aircraft at COD standard detail level cost way more than 1000$ It is a full two moths work, the least, maybe more, and that if you already have all the necessary blueprints and right and complete reference material.

The Pe-8 bombers that has been added in 4.11.

But that did cost a fair amount more - 6000 US $, though given the greater complexity of CoD I would expect the same amount for an exterior model alone. Cockpits and gunner stations adding to that.

EXCLUDING texturing and animation coding.

Still, for a world wide community that is not alot of money, IMO.
