Isn't 4.04 still Pacific Flyers and because of that it doesn't include PE2, Sturmoviks Over Manchuria, 1946? As far as I know there's no way to patch up unless you buy IL2 1946.... or each addon seperately.

From IL2 1946 you apply 4.08, 4.09, 4.10, 4.101 and then finally 4.11. There's no way to get there from 4.04.

This is maybe not the right place for such a hint.
Nethertheless I would rather save the $8,86 on my power bill for letting the PC run all the night and get a nice paper package with DVD instead.

I believe there was a 4.05 and a 4.06 patch but it was not around very long and you would be hard pressed to find it.Once 1946 came out it was 4.07 so there is no way to go from 4.06 to 4.07 without the 1946 DVD(or download).

this is correct, he purchased the wrong version gamefly.com is now selling it from the now defunct D2Drive.com store you want IL2 Sturmovik 1946 it will be 4.07m you need to or 4.08m
