Hmmm, it's way less demanding on your computer.

The campaign is fun and jumps around many theaters (so there are quite a few planes available) but is a bit arcade-ish (sometimes the objectives appear to have been designed for unlimited ammo rather than realistic ammo settings).

There are people playing online, many playing arcade mode (ugg) and I have always been able to find or make a game online for simulator mode (of course more people play arcade mode [easier FM] cause it's easier).

Engine management is easier

Maps are smaller (but I think they look awesome) but seem 'big enough' for dogfights.

I got my copy on sale and don't regret it, YMMV.

Hi Tav,
I bought it when it was released and to be honest, i played it 4-5 times! Even withe more detailed level-adjustments it`s way to much arcade! If you`re experienced in the other Il-2 titles i would say-hands off!
It looks nice but the gameplay is too easy!

+1 and no so called "sim" should ever be on a console.

Graphically WOP is impressive. But the problem is flight model is based on the first IL2 and campaigns are designed based on arcade settings. I have seen myself failing a mission because "It took too long".

It has a simulation component not as deep as CLOD or IL2 1946 but it's there
and you can enjoy it if you don't compare it with CLOD or IL1946.

If you are looking for a new sim try the free version of Rise of Flight. It includes 2 planes (not sure) + multiplayer + quick missions + campaign and once you buy new planes you get the full game which is basically demo + new planes

And the store to buy new planes

Well it is kind of arcade-ich, but if You're ww2 aircrafts enthusiast I would suggest You to get it, since I know it's cheap now... Beautiful graphics and playability on low end machines is big advantage. Unfortunate there is not much of simulation in there.

Watch it - I started on Birds of Prey for Xbox !

You would be suprised how many console players went out and bought a PC and IL1946 because they wanted more SIM properties than a console can support.

Don't quite understand that comment or it's relevance to the topic... Is the hammer a cryptic reference to a SpitMk1a by any chance.?....if so - Viva la Spitfire.......
