Avro I don't think trying to run CLoD on XP is a very good idea at the moment.
If you really can't get it to launch try re-installing the game. At least Steam will retain your settings.

I reinstalled my game and it works fine now. I'm not sure what caused it to suddenly not load in the first place, but re-installation worked in my case.
