IIRC chromostereopsis is not perceived with identical colours, it think it was red-green, blue-grey and red-blue, maybe more colur combinations but im not sure.
And its not been only known for 100 years, it was always there, just because it was reported maybe 100 years ago, doesnt mean anything.

And no its no special alien paint for the colour blinded. Period!
