It looks like it has some kind of Schräge Musik!

It does on some models! The Japanese had a couple of aircraft including the Ki-45, Ki-46 and the J1N (which had upwards and downward firing cannons).

...which were 20mm cannons, contrary to i.e. Bf110.

Cannos used on Schräge Musik systems were MG/FF or MG151/20 i.e. 20 mm. The Bf-110 had the option to mount Mk108 (30 mm) on the nose.

Actually the Luftwaffe envisioned the use of the Mk 108 as Schräge Musik for sheer hitting power, but pilots found the weapon too clumsy trajectory-wise and prefered the MG 151/20 for this role.

Ah thanks for the correction, CsThor... I always though, it was a 30mm hammer in the 110. Never tried it though.
@Sita: thats not up to us (I mean us two here now). It was meant as a private posting of interest. Really!

The Ki-45 is the plane I was missing most in Pacific Fighter, the second is the Ki-44.
I wonder if there are plans to add the Ki-44 by Japancat? I hope one of the DT members here can comment on that. Do a Google search and you might find some interesting images |
