DCS-A10C runs perfectly on my oldish system (see my sig). When I purchased it as a pre-retail beta it was far, far worse than CoD's first pre-patch offering. Beta A-10 would crash repeatedly on me when I was in setup options trying to assign keys to my HOTAS. When I flew A-10 it would be fine for about 5 minutes, then abruptly it would ignore my control inputs and ultimately careen out-of-control into the ground. I duly reported these glitches at the SimHQ forum and subsequent patches/updates cured it all by the time it went full retail.

Certainly A-10 is a generation (or two or three) ahead of CoD in a number of areas - instrumentation, weapons systems, Comms, etc. etc. etc. (long list). What I'd be curious to know is the relative complexities of the damage modelling. At first blush the A-10 aircraft has far more electronic systems to be disrupted, obviously. But is the incursion of individual bullets & shrapnel bits modelled in A-10 as intricately as CoD or is it done more as a series of close-grouped damage bubbles within the A-10 aircraft fuselage & wing structures?

I never had any of your problems with A-10 and it ran WAY better than CloD even in early beta. They warned purchasers of its early state and optimized it in a later beta and it ran even better. It did not crash, it did have full AA and it did have better terrain, better manual, better sound, better comms......etc. etc. It had minor bugs in beta compared to the multiple major problems CloD has to date. CloD was released way too early and was not released as an unfinished product.

PC Pilot magazine uses words like "jaw-dropping" "the new bar for combat flight simulation" "blew our socks off" to describe A-10 in their Platinum Award assessment of A-10. Didn't hear that type of thing in their very kind assessment of CloD. As for damage modelling in A-10. Superb. Every bullet hole etc.
Its a joke to excuse all that is wrong with CloD as a result of its amazingness, when clearly a superior sim like A-10 did not do so. This might be a great WW2 sim that is a lot of fun if they finish it, and I sincerely hope they do. It is not and will not be the greatest sim ever, but who cares. Right now its a botch up and I look forward to the finished product in all its glory.

Go here, lowest score is 9.0 http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/dc...g/user-reviews

And to stay on topic, these drivers don't help LOL.

Agreed. I bought it pre-alpha/beta and couldn't even get all my controls set before a constant crashing to desktop. Once it was finally playable I spent a good 4-5 hours learning how to take off and another 4-5 on the weapons. After that, the game became boring so I stopped playing it. Take off, shoot at tank/truck, go back home. They promised dedicated server support and still have yet to deliver on it as well.

I keep seeing a trend from new people joining these forums to troll talking about other games. I'm assuming it's because the games they like have noone playing them?

And back on topic: The drivers do work great if you do what I said.
