+1 to that. It was terrible and Ubisoft should be delivering replacement maps and Spitfire manuals to everyone who bought the CE edition.
The map is some cheap hession cloth thing, its not even correct and it looks rubbish while Spitfire manual was made using character recognition from the real manual, but no-one bothered to spell-check the results as its full of ridiculous errors from misread characters (specks of dirt turned into fullstops, numbers misread as letters) as well as missing pages and having some pages double-printed. |

Got to disagree here! It was only £15 more than the basic version, and I thought it was a steal for what's in the box. Particularly when you consider the price of add-ons for other flight sims; and you do only get a disc there too.
Sure the spit manual is full of anomalies, the map too, but that's not really the point. I bought two, and don't regret it a bit. Which reminds me, I must frame the map to go on the wall by my desk. |

If I recall correctly Amazon.de had the collector edition. But they were unable to ship out of Germany(I think Ubi put the clamps on).
You might be able to find a squadmate/friend to buy one and send it to you. I realize it is a real pain but you might go through the sticky thread "where to buy clod" to see if you can find someone. |

On the contrary, it`s more than worth it!
The box is firm, the map will surely be helpful in online missions, the manual is excellent and the Spit book is a nice collector`s gadget. All this for a price few € cheaper than a standard edition of a PS3/Xbox360 game. |

Actually I'm rather surprised to see such positive comments on the collectors edition. I like collectors editions and have them for rather many different games but this was by a long shot the worst so far. The cloth map is ridiculous bad quality as well as the Spitfire handbook which doesn't have any feel of age and authenticity to it (besides all the spelling errors). Typically many collectors editions have such items and sometimes they are cheap quality which makes them worthless...but sometimes they are really nice and creative. But I would have lived with those low quality items...because I was more out for the manual.
I was hoping for at least some information on the more complex systems of the aircraft...mostly the engines and how to operate them. Because how else should I learn these systems? But in the manual there is not even the slightest information about this but a lot of generic stuff probably mainly copy-pasted from some other sources. Absolutely no useful information in there I'm sorry to say. I remember so many helpful manuals like the one for Falcon 4.0 or the separately sold manual for LOMAC that really helped you understand the airplanes and the way their systems work but this was rubbish. Most games (not collectors editions) come with similar manuals and I never read them because they are not worth my time like the manuals of many older games were. So in summary the manual would have been ok if it would have been with the standard edition of the game (since the standards for these free manuals are so low today) and the additional items are very poor quality. To me the collectors edition was a total waste of money and I can absolutely not recommend to but it. Alexander Edit: Actually...I forgot one positive thing...the box is not bad. |

To ad, the whole manual of the CE will be installed as PDF in the game installation folder. The very few pages that are realy usefull are easy to print......
