it has been done in a couple of cases, problem is getting hold of DB engines in running order (and keeping up with the maintenance demands that come with it), plus the conversion can be a bit of a pain, cos you need not just an engine, but new cowlings, propeller + gov, spinner, supercharger, linkages... basically everything new from the firewall onwards.. quite an expensive game for a plane that wouldn't be genuine anyways. You should really be desperate to have an accurate looking Bf109!

Let's put it in this way: seeing/hearing a genuine DB or BMW engine is a rare, rare occurrence nowadays, and surely one to remember!

Beg your pardon your right, it comes from German Restoration Company.

It's probably been on loan to Flying Ledgends, or has a regular slot.

ah, that one

well yes, it was based in France and came in 2009 for Legends. I remember the excitement and the disappointment since I lost the SD card which contained all the pics I took of it during the airshow

This one wasn't a genuine FW btw, it was made by Flugwerk on the original plans and powered by a Chinese copy of a Russian radial engine.

It made an emergency ditching last summer in the Channel after one of the propellers got stuck in feathered position (a problem that had been reported before). The pilot ditched the plane in the sea and came out unharmed, but the plane sank quickly and was considered as scrap because saltwater as you know is the killer for aluminium. The plane was recovered some days after though, since it ditched close to the coast, and the last rumours I heard were that there still is a plan to fix it, but I wouldn't bet much money on it. True shame, let's keep our fingers crossed!

there actually is another Flugwerk replica based in Duxford, but it's only been on static display and never seen it flying.

The first thing we have to do is replace Goering's Morphine with Heroin and send him off for a nice holiday to get him out of our way then put Molders and Kesselring in charge of the whole thing.
