Mainly it's the fact that people are running all kinds of different versions because they give a better performance for their specific PC configuration (the last official patch, the 1st beta patch since, or the 2nd beta patch) and then join a server without making sure to match the versions. The beta patches are unsigned and as such, completely unrecognized by Steam. This makes it possible to join a server running version X with a client running version Z, something that the developers advised about and warned that it would cause problems despite being able to connect. I tried this just for testing and to confirm it. I joined the Syndicate server a couple of times when i was running a version similar to theirs, no problems whatsoever. Then i upgraded to the 2nd beta patch that made the game completely playable for me and tried to re-join the server: instant bug upon spawning, my aircraft controls were bugged and it was floating in mid-air. However, this is not the game's fault, no game that i know of can handle multiplayer sessions between different versions. I guess that once the performance optimizations are complete we'll only be getting official patches, we will end up with "streamlined"/similar installations to a common standard and things will start picking up. Until then everyone is running the version that gives the most playable FPS on their system. |

Would be cool to see someone put up an event with 20-40 online players or so. A historically accurate mission with a organization and the works. As close to the real thing as you can virtually get. |
