Don't forget that this game is released for 12 year old. I wouldn't like my son (or daughter) to have such obvious and graphic visualization and audio of how it is when one dies.
You will object that this effects may be made optional but then I'd reply how can you ensure that this lock is made safe enough so that a smart 12 yr old cannot find out circumventing ... |

I'd reckon that a setting in the conf.ini would be enough, or a passworded "gore" option if it came to that.
I doubt we'd ever get anything that visually traumatic, to be honest - Oleg has always had a very conservative view on gore in IL-2. That said, this is a wargame. To abstract the fact that we're dropping bombs and shooting down flimsy metal/wood frames filled with people from hundreds of feet up in the sky seems very odd to me. If someone is so worried about their children's views, thoughts and emotions while playing games, should they be playing such games in the first place? There are plenty of ways to stop content being viewed if the mechanisms are in place to begin with, and if the child is intelligent enough at 12 to be able to figure out a conf.ini file or crack a password system specifically to get at the gore, then I daresay that kid is intelligent enough to handle a little blood on the screen. |

The current gore in il-2 is turned on by conf.ini
Either way, I don't know if the developers are aiming for an all age rating - ESRB rating is pending and the BBFC is for 15 and older. I think 15 is enough to handle some blood texture. |

Well, here it is sold at 12. They would have to rerate it with the heavy gore stuff I guess. I don't mind it to be sold at higher age rates but that was not my decision.

No..
Pilot sounds are one of the most annoying thing you can ever find in a sim.. it's enough already with the pumping adrenaline Online pilot himself.. |

Doesn't rise of flight have hand signals from the pilots?
That is pretty cool! |

Hand signals would be awesome - but man it would be so many more keys to map.

Hand signals for close formation stuff would be pretty neat ... still used today for things like formation changes, Config changes, freq changes, No Comm emergency (HEFOE).

... I know they put it in Need for Speed - Shift and in Shift2.
There you can hear heavy breathing from the driver when you hit a wall or something like that and I think Shift2 is rated for 3 years old children. But if you want to see heads ripped off by flakexplosions and blood spilling all over in the cockpit, for the realism, or a rear gunner with all his guts hanging out because he was hit by machinegun fire in his belly,... maybe you ask the developers if they want to bring out a 2nd version of the game, only for adults. I personally would be already pleased if they iron out the existing deficiencies. |
