From what I've gathered thus far from tweaking the settings to get the best performance is that by just turning shadows off in the GUI is like giving this sim steroids. It really boosts framerate. I kinda love the look of dynamic shadows in the pit so i keep it on, but if you want to boost your frames just uncheck shadows.

Shadows is a big hit.. they look AMAZING though.. so online I leave them on and I can afford the extra FPS I lose.. If my system was borderline after turning off SSAO they are the next thing to go..those 2 features should get you close to double the frame rate you had with them on..

Anyone suggesting taking off shadows, can't take off the shadows I just love them too much (especially on the cockpit). That's what makes the sim for me

..But I guess that's pretty much what slows things down.. oh well.

Yeah, I haven't even tried the game with shadows off LOL.

But FPS are my only issues and I hope the XFIRE patch will do wonders for my 5970, or this fullscreen stuff that ATI users keep on muttering about.

If you have the FPS I'd leave them on.. the SSAO is by far a bigger savings and really no visible loss of graphics.. The Shadows are so cool, but they are fps intensive.
