I think the BoB era planes were fitted with a upwards pointing 3'' spike, hence the stiff/static posture.

Most pilots slackened off their harness and cinched it up for landings/crash-landings, according to everything I've read. I agree that the pilots as currently rendered look un-naturally postured.

I agree with the OP. When I fly, my shoulders don't touch the seat as my arms are extended to the flight column and other instruments. My lower and middle back is in full contact with the seat however.
If the CoD pilot model had more curvature to the spine, the chin would be further away from the chest and look more natural. Low priority fix, but well spotted |
