When formation flying you are ignoring your instruments aside from cursory glances, the rest of the time you are focusing on a point on the wing of your lead and reacting to any movement. This explains why the pilots photographed are leaning forward like that. The lead ship is responsible for navigation, flight level, radio when in close formation.

I can say though if someone was planning on my demise by shooting at me I might get a little tense!
That sounds logic, anyway , more than tense they look poorly modeled.

Here a sample.. that i modeled ..

This is how you seat in an aircraft of that caliber above.. if you cruise to a point to an other you will adopt a more relax position but for a very little time due to you must check your gauges at all time and teh ground to always check where you can crash land safely.. I mean all the time, higher seated the pilot.. better it is on those birds with low fowarded wings and the vision is not that good in RL.

Internal cockpits visions need corrections in ClOD ( i did corrected some some time RoF and Lockon vision )

To me they don't look tense but rather like those who need glasses for reading but don't wear them. Ya know, those keeping the book far away because at normal distance they cannot read it any more ....

The upper spine is a bit bent forward in a normal seated position making the neck sit slightly before the shoulders. That's not the case with the current pilot modell and that's what makes them seem tense.

However, in flight they would not lean forward like in your photos - only if they wanted to gaze through the sights or see something around the cockpit frame me thinks.

There are bigger problems than that! If your pilot is wearing an Irvin jacket, its sleeve is sticking through the cockpit and is visible from exernal view

Read my first sentence.Im not expecting this to be fixed/improbed soon, only want to know other players thoughts.I want force feedback first , and head shake without leaning. But that its another history.

Better to fly with a stiff pilot than without a pilot?!

S!

I could care less if the pilots looked like Krusty Clown or something. Flying from cockpit view as prefer realism. Occasional external views for screenshots and even then if trying to get a pic of a bug or something. Really, wasting resources on pilot posture is useless. Rather see other bugs fixed and performance issues resolved than a "Combat Ken" ragdoll in cockpit
