Firstly, Never underestimate the ingenuity of cheats.

Imagine this scenario. A server with limited numbers of Spitfire II and no icons.

The enterprising cheat makes 2 different sounds for Spitfire I and Spitfire II so that he can instantly tell whether his opponent has +12 boost availabhle or not. And naturally he makes Merlins louder than DB601s, so that he can hear the enemy sneaking up behind him over the noise of his engine to avoid being bounced...

Secondly, Never underestimate the paranoia of the wider community.

If you have 0.1% of the population cheating then probably 10% of kills will be called into question. This leads to bitterness and anger, which is bad for the community.

The anti-cheat system therefore needs to be draconian in order to ensure that people don't even start to consider the possibility that their opponent might be cheating.

Quoted for truth. However, I expected the same once IL-2 was modded, but I see no more text buffer calls of Cheat! than I ever did.
