ok well just so you know, don't expect to play il2 COD on either of those cpu's they are below minimum spec.

I would recommend you go out and get a second job and upgrade to an i7 2600k

i5 25000k is a much better chip bang for buck imo.

people overclocking them over 4Ghz on air.

despite having an i7 myself, hypertheading is not really worth it.

i5 2500K was $219 and with a $35 Air Cooler I OC'd it to 4.2 Gig by pressing one button on the MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard.. easiest overclock ever.. only way to make it easier would have been for MSI to actually press the button for me

I used this, its awesome, silent, and I could beat you to death with it You actually attach your motherboard to it, not the other way around.. but..can't hear the fan and its keeping my CPU under load REALLY cool.. like crazy cool..

I can recommend only the i5-2500K. 4.9 GHz Primestable with air cooling.

Best bang for the buck!

I hope you guys are using something like Coretemp to check your core temperatures

My i7 950 on twin fan Megahalems cooler is o/c to 4GHz and CoD is loading Core 1 to about 70% and around 85C (Max recommended by Intel is 73 but I won't worry below 90). I did have it at 4.2GHz but a 100% load Prime test rocketed it over 100C where I chickened out

I don't know what the cores will be loaded like once CoD multicore has been optimised.

Great advice NOT. Once code is optimized they will probably work ok.
THe video card is probably more important now than ever.

The athlon is only 60 bucks and the i3 is about 120.
