[QUOTE=Travelbob;246449]I don't really blame Oleg and his team. I blame Ubisoft, because my feeling is that they pushed 1C to publish now because of profit...and maybe to pay the game development. But honestly, if this was the case, maybe we should buy instead of the unfinished game treasury stocks of 1C/IL2 - this would have helped to develop the game and avoided such a big disappointment. I don't know![QUOTE]
Well I prefer having it now even if its buggie and have fun with it for the next 6 months as it is being patched, rather than waiting for a "complete" version down the road. At laest now we have a taste of what is to come |

We're all just spoiled because we're used to Il-2, which was rock solid and undemanding on today's hardware for 2-3 years now. What we're getting now is a quantum leap, which cannot happen smoothly - it simply isn't a scripted FPS where every frame is optimized, and the work is paid for by the millions of kids who will play the game for 10 hours and then move on. What we see are teething problems, but beyond these I see huge potential. Actually, the game is quite playable for me even now with no specific HW upgrades for it, so I have nothing to complain about actually... |

Maybe some of you that are complaining and ranting shouldn't have bought the game on the 1st day of release?! You only have yourselves to blame.
Its not as though we havent had some inclination that there are problems with the game before this date and if you could control your inner child (I WANT IT NOW NOW NOW!) then you wouldnt have 'wasted' your money on it. To some the price of the game is a 'mere piss in the ocean', if they want to buy it to support the dev team then let them be. I agree that when games are released by companies they should be running well on PC's and have all features included. But on the other hand i'm a PC gamer and have had enough experience with PC game releases (FPS, RPG, MMO etc) to realise that this is hardly ever the case (rightly or wrongly aside). That is why i tend to wait to buy these games (even though im itching to get it!) till ive read forum reviews from people that couldnt wait! Maybe you should have done the same. Whoever bought the game after the reading the last couple of weeks of forums posts, here and other forums, and expected to launch the game on their PC and it to all hunky dory surely was kidding themselves. And before anyone jumps down my throat, I agree that released games should be of a certain quality but i am also a realist and experienced in PC game releases. |

People complain when its delayed or not getting released quick enough, when its out people still complain its not working. Every single game this happens and in the end it shall be fixed just have to be patient.

IF UBI rushed the game out for profit and it is profit they wanted surely
1 , wait now until Christmas or the anniversary of the Battle Of Britain to make the most of the advertising and sales, 2,Doing this would've given the beta testers/developers 6+ months more to get it right or at least playable for many. 3, Poor write ups now because of this will hurt sales, whats the saying "first impressions last". Rushing this out just doesn't make sense. I agree it should hopefully all come good in the future BUT as already stated 4, Because of steam you can't resell the game [can you?) 5, You are hoping they do fix the problems, what do you do if they can't/don't ? |

Though UBI has a track record of disastrous decision in regards to games, SH5 being a prime example, I am not so sure they are to blame in this case. This sim has been in development for over 6 years. That is a massive time period not even triple A titles usually require. All those years Olegs and folks had to be fed and paid, and usually the publishers takes care of that. So I can't really blame UBI for wanting to eventually see results.
Oleg is not a business person, he is a flight jock and in the biz for his own personal madness, a madness we all share and support. But personal ambition often leads to not so rational practices. I can very much imagine, after all the wishes constantly written down by the community, his wish to deliver brought Maddox Games quite some trouble with financial realities. Nevertheless, what we DO have, buggy and lacking optimization as it is, nevertheless has such huge potential sticking to it is the word of the day. If one thing is for sure, then that Oleg and Maddox Games deliver. 10 years of constant patching, goodies and expansions for the original IL2 are living proof for that. Now I understand the newbies here lack this experience, used to the rest of the game world and the profit profit profit attitudes and as such are understandably spiffed. Nevertheless I am convinced we have the best WW2 sim ever conceived on our machines now.
