Interesting to see the game rating on that site,
32 ppl = 5 stars
3 ppl = 4 stars
3 ppl = 1 star
So cant be all doom and gloom. (touch wood)

Is there a Russian version of steam?

If so buying the steam version will be quite easy, subscribe to a vpn service that has russian servers (you should be able to just buy a week for a small amount), log into steam and you will see steam as the russians would even with your normal account.

It works for UK steam accounts accessed through a US server, gets you the cheaper prices.

Update:

Looks like the hidemyass VPN will do and can be purchased for cheap.

Just need people to confirm if cliffs of dover can be bought from steam when access from russia, then we're good to go.

There's another way to buy the Russian release on steam just have someone who can buy the Russian version (e.g. a Russian) to gift you the game on steam. Of course you'll need someone who can buy the Russian version first.
The version you gift is the version you buy regardless of where it's being sent too.
Important thing to note is a game with one steamID can't play with another steamID game using steamworks so if you buy the Russian version you can't play against Ubi versions, it will missmatch.
This has been used for many steam games (usually to circumvent censorship) and if it doesn't work with this one I'd be shocked.

You should probably wait until the game comes out first though, I still have faith that the devs won't let us down.

I do confirm it

It works at least till I get the application downloader and getting the serial in my mail (that's the step I am at)

I use ING bank and the home banking updates immediately so I've seen the "test" transaction instantly but... the transaction came in Romanian Currency so I had to cross finger that the convertor from RON to USD gave the same sum they expected... it did so the page switched from showing the price to showing the download links.

I have a steam account made here in Romania so I think it will work.

I'll post back.

OK... steam accepted the serial and now is downloading... although atm it says download paused... maybe it's doing maintenance or something...

adonys I'll contact you on PM... on our common language

Guys, just make sure you're adding the serial to a new sepparate Steam account made specially for this, to prevent messing up your main Steam account just in case (which should also allow you to eventually add the UBI version ot it, if UBI will ever provide an option for the ep filter, and won't damage the game graphics to pull the ep filter out).

You don't need that, just add the serial to the new Steam account, and you cna start download directly through Steam

My bank account displayed the transaction in the original currency it was made too, so it was simple for me.

Well,if the game menu is still in Russian, sorry for me ,but i'll go (maybe) with West version.I cannot afford a game sim in a language that i can't read at all: briefings, menu, settings, keys. And still,we don't know if it steam allows this strange procedure.Maybe not now,but in a week our fakeaccounts could be banished.

I'm confident we'll find out how to turn on/force the english menu in the russian version pretty soon.

The account can not be banned, as there is nothing illegal in there. As someone said above, getting Steam games gifted from other countries is actually an official mechanism incorporated in Steam, and it works ok.

@adyon
Well, receiving it as a gift is a thing, creating a fake account with fake infos is another one and in a forum told me you can't do this.

Well, when you (you as community) will be able to force english lang. and we all have the confirmation that it's a perfectly safe procedure also from other users, maybe i'll give it another chance Thanks anyway for your idea, hope this will work perfectly in the future!!
