The landing scenes in Saving Private Ryan were filmed at Curracloe beach very close to where I live in Ireland. It was a bit mad seeing all the WW11 kit scattered all over the place for filming. I was kinda hopeing a section could have been left once filming had been completed but everything was shipped out and the beach restored to its original glory.

The private investors on the film Flyboys:

"The film was financed privately outside the standard Hollywood studio circuit by a group of filmmakers and investors, including producer Dean Devlin and pilot David Ellison, son of Oracle Corp. founder Larry Ellison; both spent more than $60 million of their own money to make and market "Flyboys"."

"The film opened at #4 the box office with a total box office gross of $17,770,614.[18] On December 27, 2006, Variety named it one of the 10 biggest box office flops of the year, citing an estimated shortfall of $90 million.[19]"

I admire their enthusiasm and desire to make a film on the subject but they must have been mad to agree to such a cliche ridden cheesy script. Real film makers could have made 3 real films about WW1 and WW2 combat with that money

The movie about the Red Baron...they kept calling the German Air force the Luftwaffe. I had to look it up on the computer just to confirm that in WWI, the German Air Force was not called the Luftwaffe. DAmn movie, giving me falsified facts.

It even says Luftwaffe in the discription on NETFLIX.

It was the USAAC till 1941, after, USAAF (1941-1947), and finally USAF in 1947.
