Perhaps that's true, but really the only reason to use HL is that the majority of the online community uses it. Xfire is just as good, just as free and isn't a chore to use. Same goes for Steam. In fact, most of my favourite Il-2:1946 servers are advertised on Xfire as well.

Start HL,see my squaddies online,choose which online war I want to fly,as they all have their own 'rooms' in HL,such as AFW,IL2 war etc, click on an empty space and wait for the host to start the game.Chat to people and give help to newbies while I wait.
Works for me.
And if anyone is still using securom and the dvd in the drive they have my sympathies!

Yeah, installing a no-CD is pretty much compulsory for me every time I install the game. Although to be fair, don't play many other games, could just leave the DVD in.
