Pray tell in what way is that cutting? I just pointed out to Pope that Bez was correct in that certainly with regard to the 51D on PS3 it has the option (once unlocked) to equip it with 2x1000lbs bombs. Just as you can also equip it with rockets. As for using it, do as you please. As bombs are really only useful in strike to do damage it would seem sensible to use it but if carrying around 2000lbs in a dogfight is your bag them knock yourself out. Better to equip it with rockets when idiots use B17s in DFs, TBs and CTAs though as it's a great BnZ especially against such a big target.

I've also got 2 x 1000lb bombs as a weapons choice for my P51-D5 on the PS3. They're pretty awesome for CTA games but to be honest I normally use the little 153 for fun.

Sadly Pope you're wrong. was a little blunt and I viewed it as quite upfront and abrupt so to me it seemed a little harsh.

This is crazy. Ive been here since the demo launch and NOBODY has ever said anything about these 1000lb bombs for the P-51D. I have 1000/1000 on xbox and don't have them. How did you unlock them? 2x250lb bombs on the xbox is 50 targets destroyed. Sorry if I am wrong but this is totaly out of the blue. They were never on any unlock list here. Were they added with the PS3 patch? and why?

YES the p51 HAS 1000lbs bombs you have to destroy targets in strike to get them witch is a pain in the a**

i was playing on xbox with an trusted nubie who had 500 LBers for the "B" so the D ought to have at least that.

I did have the game pre-patch but never unlocked them until after so I couldn't say for definate that they were there prior. Maybe McQ could answer that as he was further on that me at that point. Certainly afterwards it was a case of 5 ground targets being kamikaze'd to unlock them.

Edit: Having just checked the lists here it does state 250lbs as loadout but they're definitely 1000lbs in the game!

Ok so on the patched PS3 game there are no 250lb bombs for the p51d? I'm thinking it must have been changed in the PS3 patch then. In fact I always did think those 250lb bombs looked too large on the D version. They are larger than the 500s on the fake P-51B. Can some one on xbox with the P-47 tell me if the 1000lb bombs on that look the same as the 250lbs bombs on the P-51D? Now i'm wondering whether the 250s are in fact 1000s and are just incorrectly named, I might have to do some testing.

My records tells me that I got the 1000lb for the D5 after killing 50 groundtargets in strike with the same plane. I don't think I ever did that, but the night the patch was released was like pre-christmas-eve. I'm almost sure it was that night I got the bombs for the D. It is as one of you guys have pointed out, in the "official" papares it says 2x250lb's, but I have corrected that in my own copies with ink. The D5 has a bombload of 2x1000lb in the game. (PS3). I think it is a little f-up from the devs side. It would have been a mission (allmost) impossible to kill 50 groundtargets in the D5 with the HVAR- rockets only. To get the rockets you had to kill 50 planes in online CTA games in the same bird...

The51B is another bag. To get 2x100lb load-out you had to win 10 online games in the 51B. To get the 2x500lb you had to win 15 online strike or cta in the 51B. (My rec's says I won 6, so I think I got that load-out too with the release of the patch).

Hope this made a few things a bit clearer.

To sum it up; Thank dog (and the devs) for the patch!

I have completed my bomb tests on xbox. I will now share the results.
Match 1.
B-17 with 1000lb bombs. Destroyed 3 friendly bunkers. Each bunker took ten 1000lb bombs to destory.

Match 2.
P-51D with 250lb bombs. Destroyed 3 friendly bunkers. Each bunker took ten 250lb bombs to destroy.

Conclusion. The bombs on the P-51D are 1000lb bombs on xbox as well as PS3. Only the text saying 250lbs is wrong.

My apologies to Spitfire and bezshumniy, and thank you for helping me find out something new about the game.
