Training mode WEP

If you can engage WEP while flying straight, maybe you tilt the controller / stick and the game doesn't count it as a loop (game only counts if you do a perfect loop)?

Took me a while to hold the stick steady using that game pad .. .

If using a joystick Or custom controller setting, and you can't engage WEP on a straight away flight, then WEP throttle is the issue, and switch to using the game pad and default controller, the throttle will be on right analog stick (yeah its not pilot ergonomic) push it to the max and it WEP will engage.

Using KB mouse, custom settings, or sticks with this game has some wonky happenings (wish Gaijin woulda QA'd the game better . . .)
