Set all details to Excellent and enable Perfect mode. You MUST be running in 32bit to do that.

A 9600 GT (there is no 9600 GTX) will do alright in perfect mode. I had a 8600 GT at one point and it was decent enough to get the job done.

Resolution will make it look nicer as well but these days my suggestion would be to set your resolution at whatever your LCDs native resolution is. For me that is 1280x1024 which requires a quick config.ini tweak.

EDIT: Does your game look like mine? http://cid-d368795040548bdd.skydrive...W8rhYqZohGs%24

Those pictures are select screen shots over the last 3 years or so. Taken on either a 8600 GT or in the last few on my GTS 250.

S!

Using Effects=2 can cause undesireable effects like flickering smoke and shadows, huge FPS hit etc. With Effects=1 you are more than content. Sure if TD could take a look in the Effects=2 in the future

water=4 is only a fps killer if you override the Aniostropic filtering through your Gfx card.

if you leave it running through the game settings, ie TexMipFilter=3, and in Nvidia settings application controlled its fine.
