But a lot of us have already waited a long time to upgrade, and it could be another year yet, so we can't just keep waiting (our systems are grinding to a halt). As swiss said, do we buy stop gap parts to tide us over, because by the time it's out there will be better hardware available, or is it close enough to release that we should get the best we can now?

The point is that these are not difficult questions for the developers to answer (ie, rough timeframe).

It's all very easy. If you need (or want) to upgrade now you upgrade, if you don't then you will get more technology for your dollar if you wait. It's been the rule of thumb since computers were invented.

But look back on the history of how 'rough timeframe’ released by Oleg and co have been treated by the community. A 'maybe' is treated like something set in stone. 'Should' is translated as definitely.

How can you give a timeline when optimising a section of code or removing a bug may require a whole section of the programme to be re-written using a different algorithm?

When Oleg and his Publisher (who ever that may be) are confident of a release date, they will probably tell us. Be Sure!

On the list of things that are important in my life this is not anywhere close to the top. Therefore, by extension, this is not something that I'm going to get angry, upset or otherwise fed up about.

Now everyone go down to their favourite pub, sports bar, or establishment of choice and have a round. Ok?

Its because they are all keen to get started on:

- complaining about how the cows are the wrong color for 1940
- pointing out how the spark plugs on the spitfire have the wrong gap setting
- demanding 0.50 cal so they can complain about it being porked

none of these important exercises can commence until SoW is released

Personally I don't give a crap when it comes out. When it does, I'll just take it for what it is: A nice surprise.

If it don't come out for some reason, meh. I'll spend the money on something else.

I can't wait for the 30+ pages on the theme "Uber .303's shot me down in my 109! Impossible!!!!", followed by 1000 photo's of various bombers riddled by .303 rounds, and various quotes on how the LW pilots called them door-knockers!

Cheers and merry christmas to all! Ho! Ho! Ho!

You're right Klem.
And I have a Russian wife and condo in Moscow, so I know Russians, they don't bullsh*t and shoot from the hip...I know if he could get it out sooner , he would, but even I'm sure Oleg would agree, this little side venture into "Birds of Prey" for PS3 may have been a HUGE distraction from SOW BoB, and having bought Birds of Prey, I think it was a big mistake, a real waste of time, simply an arcade shooter, and not a flight sim at all in the true sense, IMHO, unless it's sole purpose was to generate some funds for the REAL project, SOW. One can only hope that is what transpired.

I wondered on the extent of Olegs involvement In BOP at times. I doubt Oleg had as much to do with Birds of Prey as you suggest. Olegs comment about the BOP developers not providing the info about Dover he requested, especially when he let them have access to the IL-2 flight model, suggests very strongly his non involvement.

I would laugh so very hard if one day Oleg would say "lol I never worked on that game, SoW. We worked on The Sims 6 all these years. I wish u buy it and sim life".
