I liked "Les Chevaliers du Ciel" (Sky Fighters) for super flight sceenes with Mirages... a bit a la Top Gun but a bit better... imho.

Noooooo lol. I mean, I liked the movie for what it was and we all walked out of the theater singing "You've lost that loving feeling", but the flight stuff had too many inaccuracies. Like the "Migs". Don't get me wrong, some of the dog fight scenes were very cool, just too much "Hollywood".
I still watch it when it is on though If we can expand it to a series, along with injecting a whole lot of Hollywood, I would put in Ba Ba Blacksheep (or Blacksheep Squadron). In defense of this totally historically inaccurate series/movie, the Corsair is a beautiful bird and they used a lot of WWII footage along with some restored American and Japanese aircraft. That series is what got me into WWII aircraft so even though it's not accurate, it has a special place in my heart. Splitter |

Top Gun gets a lot of stick but for me the aerial sequences are some of the best ever filmed. I can watch it again and again for the camerawork. I think the F14s vs A4s "Yee Haw! Jester's Dead!" section is probably the highlight. Just awesome - especially on a big screen with the sound cranked up!
Watch any modern CGI-is-King movie and compare. No, wait, there is no comparison. Other than that, Dambusters for me. Goosebumps every time. |

this is only american and uk movie but you ignore russian movie german movie and italian movie and japanese movie example.
in these films the story is always told by the Allies, and almost all are similar and monotonous, but it would be different if the story in the movies and 'was told by the axis. ITALIAN MOVIE "I TRE AQUILOTTI" movie ITA 1942. trailer "FORZA G" movie ITA 1972 trailer |

In no particular order:
12 O'Clock High Catch 22 Memphis Belle Tora Tora Tora! Battle Of Britain Warlover Tuskegee Airmen Hotshots Flyboys I'd take Tora Tora Tora - any day of the week, Pearl Harbor i just too irritating for me. I have to add that Red Baron was the worst disappointment of a movie for me. I expected so much more from acting and overall cliche phrases. Not to mention lack of combat scenes. Sky Fighters (Les Chevaliers du ciel) was also a movie I expected too much of, the only good thing in there is awesome flight footage and a nice soundtrack. Story was nice but the production and overall directing very bad... Still on my 'to-watch list': Dark Blue World The Hunters
