I have also screwed up my settings many times. Did you patch right to 4.09 or did you patch 4.08 first. What I would do is reinstall fresh then check if game will run then patch 4.08, check if game will run. Reboot, patch 4.09, check if game will run. Open config ini save as original before you make any changes so you can refer back later. Game may not boot if you have made changes to ini that dont jive with monitor, do not make changes until you check if game will operate as original and you save original ini files.

Go into the setting exe in game folder think its called "setup.exe" open that and se if its blank on driver, you can choose open GL or direct X from there. I had the same prob as you yestoday, but found that somehow that driver choise had ended up blank. Just put it back to Open GL and game bootet up again........maby thats the prob.....
My prob was i fooled around with settings 3 places. in the config, in the game and with the setup.exe in game folder...proberbly overworked the damn game...... advice.... only change settings in confic, when that is setup dont fool around in game or in game folder setup.exe.....lol Ltbear |

Un-installing usually isn't necessary.
Next time, save a copy of the conf in its original form somewhere so you can retrieve it and go back to the default settings in case things get screwed up. If you want to change the game resolution, all you have to do is modify a few lines. Here's mine. Only change the lines which show a *. Don't change anything else (and don't actually write in the * [window] *width=X *height=Y ColourBits=32 DepthBits=24 StencilBits=8 *ChangeScreenRes=1 (from 0) FullScreen=1 DrawIfNotFocused=0 *EnableResize=0 (from 1) EnableClose=1 *SaveAspect=0 (from 1) Use3Renders=0 The main screens will still have the black areas, but the game itself will occupy the entire screen. Hope you get up and running soon. |

Note that adjusting the resolution from the defaults generally results in a loss of frame-rates, so be sure everything runs well before you tune the graphics settings. Hope you get up and running soon. |
