from what i can see oleg's version says "WAIT" not WATT, one possible speculation is that maybe an earlier/later version of the same dial has a warning/reminder about the delay in moving gear up and down after activating the control ?
hopefully some experten here will have more factual knowledge on this either way, i'd call that a very minor decorative issue, but well spotted
