From that thread I posted it looks like Battersea Power Station might have looked different in WWII (two chimneys).

Yes, SOW developers were looking for pictures of any historical buildings and typical homes of the era. It will be interesting to see how detailed the towns and villages will be and still have playable frame rates.
I was really interested in the BOB map being made for IL-2 by the 352nd group. The initial screenshots showed very detailed airfields, etc, but in the end there were very few objects placed for frame rate issues. The other BOB map made for IL-2 had huge amounts of buildings but the photo realistic terrain they were placed on sucked at low level, at least for me. I have a total aversion to FSX style blurry low level photo realistic terrain. Uggg Hopefully SOW's new engine will allow for large amounts of highly detailed objects. I know its the developers dream to have everything cinematic. Here's hoping he succeeds. |

In that picture posted by Rodolphe, it's easy to see why it would have been a good target. In a very small space you have the Power Station, a major railway bridge, a road bridge and in the top left a gass storage facility. It is surprising it didn't get bombed. To the top of the picture you have Battersea Park. South of the park (from my very sketch memory) you have two rows of the old terrace houses and then miles of huge post war council high rise building that stretch off into the distance. From talking to locals in the pubs (the MOST accurate method of determining history even though it's actually quite difficult to recall the facts the next morning) the Germans never actually hit the power station but flattened miles of the suburbs to the south in the attempt!
