If we are going into historical accuracy, then they shouldve used a Mk.I Spitfire, not a cannon armed Mk.II for some of the BoB missions. They did have a few cannon armed Mk.II's, but out of the 900 odd Mk.II's produced, only around 170 were cannon armed. And the camo is wrong for them, it shouldve been brown/green top sides, not green/gray. I know why they used one though, just to keep it up with the 109E in the armament stakes.

This issue was addressed soon after the demo for IL2 was released, I do believe Anton stated that the reason they didnt use the MkI was because of resources etc. They could afford it. Seemed an odd reason at the time. Still does. The topic for it is here on the forum somewhere. |

I just figured, that in a flight game like Il-2, you'd think to focus on the major air combat campaigns like Malta. (Plus, I love flying CR.42s and Fiats in '46. They're so fast and maneuverable. ![]() |

Which is why I was surprised there are no Do-17's or Ju-88's. - But then I was expecting alot of DLC for this game....... But lets not reopen that wound!
