There will be a resource creep with subsequent addons - so it is actually ideal to buy one or one and a half years after release.
Priorities should go to RAM and CPU. The GPU really is an afterthought for flight simulators. Track-IR or a good joystick would be higher priority than an advanced card. Advanced rendering options are optimised for close range high detail rendering of small numbers of object used in first-person-shooters and not very applicable to the needs of flight-sims. |

Personally, I'd like to run this in DX11 with AA*8 enabled, but doubt that'll be possible immediately. Who knows? It's all just rampant speculation and idle thoughts. |

I wouldn't build a new rig just yet, wait until this time next year and we may have some indication on system specs + technology will have moved on.

I thought SoW would come out in 2007 and built a top of the line machine in December of 2006. Lesson learned is forget the hype and wait untill the game is released. I'll wait 6 months and then built something nice that will last me, with upgrades, 3 or 4years. The excuse I used in 2006, needing it for the soon to be released SoW, will not fly again with my wife.
