Throw in the ship John Boy Walton flew in Battle Beyond The Stars too. The only spaceship to feature a set of jugs. Must have been about aerodynamics

Now that's funny.. I hadn't really looked at it like that before. The best actor in that film was John Boy's mole. I must have watched it almost as much as I watched Star Wars as a kid. I loved it. Then the VCR decided to eat it one morning..

Didn't they use special effects out of another film in it?

Yeah it was a favourite of mine too. I never realised until a lot later it was a remake of The Magnificent Seven with a space setting.
The special FX were reused in Space Raiders a couple of years later. It was a Roger Corman film and he was famous for streching his resources.

I believe James Cameron and Bill Paxton worked on this film set dressing and special FX and thats where they met. So Hudson fans owe this film some respect!

That's Dark Star, John Carpenters college project film. It had a beach ball alien in it which actually was part of the inspiration for Alien. The script writer Dan O'Bannon who wrote it thought it would be good to expand on the idea with a scary alien.

Ok my scifi inner geek is showing now!
