not played around with virtual cockpit much so i'm not sure how 'modable' it is.
one thing that might work for you is touchbuddy http://www.touch-buddy.com/forums/fa...aster-faq.html it's designed for touch screens but can use mouse. easy to import your own grahics. i've used it's transparency option to overlay maps over udpspeed gauges. there are pluggins for a timer and bombing table. certainly worth a look
