I made a save game point just in case it was wasted runes, but after playing with it a bit, I agree with you. Incredibly useful.
Yes, I could see how this would have been really useful even with my mage. The warrior does get really fast initiative with archers, so I can see how tactics 2 is really diminishing returns. Thanks for the affirmation. |

Tactics 2 is still +1 movement on the first turn. For non-archer based armies, this can be the difference between making the attacks you want first turn, and starting combat on turn 2.

It is definitely useful. You can protect your rangeds at the beginning, forming a meat wall around them. Or manipulate & get best use of obstacles aswell.
BUT! It is really handy to put Royal Thorns in front, for me at least. This way, (especially when fighting with keepers) 1-3 towers can be inside Royal Thorns' range at the beginning. Long live Royal Thorns + Paladins (second wind) + Tactics |
