I'm stuck on the mission where I have to resuce tanya from el vertigo. I can intimidate my way past the guard at the gate, but once inside I cannot find tanya. Do I need to do the side mission for the archaeologist, or just kill all the guards?

No need to do the archaeologist mission if you have the right uniform and can bluff your way inside the prison through the front gate. Tanya should be in a cell on the second floor, the last cell on the left. She should also show on the mini-map as a blue dot. If she isn't there, which is very weird, I don't know what the issue is and how to help you.

If you find that mission hard, you'll cry blood when you start looking for the mission pages from it
About the manuals, there has been some controversy about it and there are two camps. One side believes that it works as they did in Brigade E5, they'll increase the speed in which you gain skill in said weapons when carried in the inventory. Sniper skill when using SVD, heavy weapon skill when using grenade launchers and so forth. The other side, the one I belong to, thinks that they make no difference. In Brigade E5 you could only gain 5 points every week in those skills, in 7.62 you can gain 5 points every day. This would mean that you theoretically can have a 100 point in 20 days and that would seriously f-up the balance of the game and the devs decided to remove that function. But if anyone feel like trying it out, I would be glad to be proved wrong in my assumptions |

yep, nice question (the manuals)
i carried the stuff around. in inventory and/or in the truck but it kinda was to no good. I was putting my hopes in the mechanic in Ciad de Oro or something like that but that one was a fail No good. Personaly they could had at least set that papers to be readable and afterwards increase skill in those thing lets say by 1 or improve some of the handlings of the character like faster shots per second, faster reloading, faster cleaning or ataching and detaching of the addons or at least to improve the care of the char for the particular item so its easier to keep it clean for longer or decreased propability of jamming the gun when its dirty like s..., or even to improve damage of the weapon and so if the character who read the manual is carrying it. Maybe once someone will figure out how to implement something from the above. |

Found the tunnel into the prison. When my team surfaced into a room inside the prison, had to take out about 6 rebels just outside. Sent two squads around the inside perimiter in opposite directions. One squad found Tanya at the main gate. When we approached her, she ran for the exit, then turned to shoot us. I kicked her unconsous and disarmed her (twice! - rifle & pistol). When she recovered, she was still combative. Looks like I have to kill her.
There were still some rebels alive in the prison building. Will Tanya surrender if we take out all of them before we approach her? Seemed like the only 2 options I now have is to kill her or let her get away. I presume either result will fail the mission. I read this thread about using the uniforms. Is that the only way to complete the mission? Last edited by OneMug; 04-23-2010 at 06:14 PM. Reason: To be clear, I'm working for the Govt and must stop her rescue so she can be hanged. |

The rebels aren't supposed to be hostile, there must be some other issue at work here.
If you use the tunnel, Tanya will be killed after a period of time after you breached the prison perimiter. That time depends on what difficult level you're playing, so I can't give you an exact time frame. The best way to do this mission is to save the uniform from the guy you killed with a snake in a previous mission. If you go to El Vertigo with only your main merc and wearing that uniform, you can bluff your way through the main gate without worrying about any time limit. Oh, I just saw that you're working foir the Govt, why worry about her surviving? Just kill her if you can and get back to the mission giver, but I think she's supposed to survive, the rest of the campaign depends on it. |

Turns out it doesn't fail the mission if Tanya is killed vs. being brought in alive.
Rather than start the rescue mission over, trying a different approach, I cleared the remaining rebels out of the sector. (Holy crap there was a lot of weapons & gear laying about at the end of the battle! Almost all the guards had been wasted by the rebels!) Then I reported back the government. They didn't care that Tanya got killed. I didn't get paid as much (but I'll make even more from selling the equipment dropped.) Then they reported a phony trial in which Tanya was convicted and executed. Lying bastards. I wonder if anyone one else playing for the Govt was able to bring Tanya back alive and how they did it?
