Well as they don't seem to care what we think you'd probably sumise that the same would be true of this!!
As for my opinion on it, yep I like it it's been well thought out in terms if gameplay, individual characteristics, weapons etc. I think if you take it as a flavour of the actual game then yes I'm looking forward to the actual game itself. Take heed 1c, if we can't get our kicks here we'll happily go spend our money elsewhere. Look at this for f 's sake, a competitors game is openly being discussed on your IL2 site. What does that say for you? Your once loyal fanbase is starting to break. If we're happy we'll tell as many people as possible, but rest assured we'll tell more people if we're not which I can only guess at is most of the people who bought the game ( special sympathies to you xBox players)
Soapbox now put away under the stairs!!

I hope you are right Gilly, we have a great comunity here which has gone beyond just IL-2 BoP. We should be able to talk about OT subjects and if 1C don't like and delete it, then we should leave and start our own forum.

I would be surprised if 1c even knows this forum exists. I am sure bop to them is last quarter figures. The game has been dropped quicker than a hot potatoe. I won't be stopping playing bop in a hurry but can see cutting back with bad company 2 and avp looming.
On avp I agree it really needs a crouch option. It doesn't seem right sitting in the rafters with a predator and not being able to crouch

Come to the 360th god knows I been trying to get il2 going over there but we just don't have the numbers lol

As for AvP I thought the same as TC initially, obviously grahpics wont be up to par as it is a demo and therefore wants to cut on size as much as possible. The only control I feel is missing the a precise aim mode for the marine but the pulse rifle is accurate enough not to need it (ive just been spoiled by cod/battlefield/ofp, the left trigger aim right trigger shoot is imo the best way) and they could've put another attack button on B for the alien. hopefully in the full game you can swop the triggers and bumbers for the alien. Not really spent enough time with the predator to offer a valid opinion

I only recently reinstalled and played through the original AvP on PC and having played the demo I'm a bit on the fence.

Visually it hasn't come far enough, even the PC demo doesn't look that great. The best thing about the game is the sense of atmosphere (which was essenitally just carred over from the decade old PC game) and things are at their best when it's just Aliens V Marines.

Which is why I'm skipping this and waiting for Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines...if it ever gets released.

I heard that too. It's possible the full version may let you lock out predators...?

In player/private matches you can set the species balance, hope a couple of the varients will lock out some species too.

Anyone up for trying to get 8 of us in a party and get some private games going. 2 marines v 6 aliens etc

LOL WTF? IL2 BoP is not 1C's problem, as we've established in countless other threads. Nike-it obviously checks the forum routinely and hasn't shut down the unofficial AvP thread (or this one for that matter, although if it degenerates into a 1C slanging thread, that may well change). I for one think that is pretty cool - he seems to let mature discussions go on...

On topic, I'm loving the demo and have the game pre-ordered off the back of it. The only problem with the demo is that it's incredibly hard to get a game if you're on your own. If you have even one friend with you there's no problem...the game steadily reduces the number of players it's waiting for until it gives up and launches the game, which is fair enough as you can't join in progress so it gives people a chance to join.

I can't say that until last night lag had been a problem for me, which is surprising as it's powered by GaySpy, which always raises cause for concern. And when lag is a problem, it tends to bring the whole game down rather than make me suffer an unplayable game. The voice comms seem particularly good for PSN too.

I can't say personally that I think the game needs a crouch. I was slightly puzzled by a lack of option to look down the pulse rifle sights, but kind of like the fact that you can only shoot it from the hip. My only regret is that I've got stuck in a marine rut now, due to not fully understanding the other 2 species' controls (I only learned about "focus" yesterday), and there are far too many good alien and predator players on now for me to have fun trying to learn them...

I'm not particularly impressed by the graphics, but they're functional. The sounds are spot on though, which is more important for this franchise IMO. And the atmosphere of being a marine in a map full of competent alien players is spot on. I especially can't wait for the survivor mode, and some larger player online battles, and team based battles...

EDIT: check the official site for some sweet trailer videos (they're probably on YouTube so I could embed them, but TBH - I CBA

And in other news...The Ridlster returning to form - yes please!

Quote:
Originally the film was to be directed by Carl Rinsch while being produced by the director of Alien (1979) Ridley Scott, and his brother, Tony Scott. However at the insistence of 20th Century Fox, Rinsch was dropped in favor of Ridley Scott directing himself. As such, this film marks the first time in the series that a director from a previous entry in the franchise has resumed directorial duties.
...a very wise move Fox.
