I enjoyed the free flight formations too! Quite like the one you started the thread with and may be an idea for a recreation of the BOB. Do any of the strike maps have airfields or landable areas? I suppose it could be possible to organise a small Team of Spits and Hurris on the gound and a team of Heinkells with Bf's in support crossing from the edge of the map.......Spits and Hurris scramble as enemy formation crosses coastline. Axis must outnumber allies and battle ensues....Hurris after bombers, spits engage BF's and Bombers go for their strike targets. No scores just the experience......limited ammo, if a player runs out of ammo, gets killed or crashes they return to a set location on the map and freeflight untill the battle is won or lost by the ever decreasing number of participants over the combat zone.............just a thought!

Well with Soviet planes, you could have some I-16s and I-153s scrambling in Italy, acting as if you're going up in Southern Spain, guarding a Republican city from incoming Nationalist 109Es and Stuka's? (They'd have to be the B-2 Stukas to stick with some authenticity.)

In Stalingrad, you could act out the first couple months of the battle flying Yak-1B's over the city, guarding it from He-111s and 109F4s?
