Smile Rules and Description Ready :)

Yes, I know. Finally!

After a long time of editing I have finally completed this baby.

Hope you enjoy, it is loading to Photobucket as I type (I seriously Hope its not too big a file) :S

Please post Opinions, thoughts, Doubts, Questions. I want to make sure you all understand these rules before the Beginning of the Tournament.

I still need to edit the European Map and Rank Insignias so Ignore those now.

I must delay the Official start of the Tournament until Sunday (for Organization Purposes) But Beginning Tomorrow perhaps, there will be a Pre-Official Start of "Battle for Europe". The Pre-Opening will determine: which 3 players (from each team) will obtain top 3 ranks for the first time, and which team will control Italy (the team that wins Italy will also be allowed to choose 2/3 Missions Settings for the first week of the Official Start of the Tournament.

[edit] Im having trouble with the image size :S

Woah..... My brain hurts a bit after reading that!! .... but, it seems like a pretty good setup. My only concern is with the challenging and hosting of games. Potentially we could be looking at regular 8vs8 matches, and that will require hosts with very good connections to minimise lag.

Its a lot of material I know, most of it is just to explain how the system will work. You probably did not finish reading it all because you posted before I added the last piece.

I dont think we will have a problem with 8 vs 8 because this will be a rare case to have that many players online at once. Even if we had all players online at once it could work by splitting them into the 3 different Briefings. Example: 4 vs 4 on Territory Capture and the other 6 vs 6 on Strategic Bombing. I think these rules give many of options.

People, it sounds complicated because I explained EVERYTHING. However, you guys will only have to worry about playing, and knowing what the briefings are each week. That is all. Only if you get to the top 3 ranks, then, a little more understanding will be required. Maybe when I add the Map of Europe and Briefings you will find it easier (visuals help many).

Kozzmo,
It is important that you read them, tell me what you think. Since you have that private website for the USSR you will be my link to them.

You're right... I did jump the gun a bit there... Having read the rest of the rules it definitely makes more sense. You must have put a lot of time into this mate.... Cheers!

So the "warm-up" game is on saturday? Damn, I won't be able to make that one, but I'll hopefully be able to get involved when the tourny starts properly next week.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks, this makes me feel much better. I was worried about not being able to send the message across correctly. Yes, It took some time and thinking that is why I really want people to understand how these rules work, Everything will be more fun if you understand how it all works, and it may even stimulate you to want to get more involved.

P.S. Everything has an explanation. I have more pages and notes to answer any "what if ?" situation. Ask and you will get an answer (please be sure to read all of the rules before posting a question, though)

thanks

first, I can't play sunday unless it's after 5 pacific time

I also doubt most or all of us will be ready to play for ranks today either. it would be better if we understood all the rules first... there are enough to make your head spin even if you're a native English speaker

I will have to re-read them to have a complete opinion but the first impression is it will work as long as people actually show up for the matches, and as long as there's no serious lag.

A few things that could be trouble:

) the i-153. Not that we mind having it.
) if sitting on an airfield is illegal, bombing the airfield should be also. Using a landed plane's MG is at least realistic and doesn't destroy the runway like bombs do. Drop 5 bombs on a runway and it's not a runway anymore.
) why only 1/3 bombers in strike missions? They're not so hard to kill.
) does a team have to win the war before they can get hangar E? Since both sides will buy the best possible hangar, they'd have to hold 4 territories for 3 weeks, or 3 for 5 weeks.
) strike mode is still pretty glitchy about when targets are actually destroyed. Also what about kamikazes in bomb missions?
) The rules will have to be translated into at least 2 other languages. If this starts in just a couple days, there will be a lot of people playing who don't know the rules, and will just jump into a furball as usual. Or who don't understand they can use an i-153 in that initial furball, or that they might face a whole team of i-153's.
) If the VIP is allowed an Arado, what do they even need an escort for? If a jet is crossing the map, it's gonna cross the map, there's no stopping it. Even an me-262 would get one head-on shot at most, after turning it would be too far behind to catch it in time. Though to get an Arado, I guess you have to win the war first to get hangar E
) 3 briefings a week... means 3 matches a week? That's impossible even in a 1 on 1 tournament.

anytime i died, i lost my rank ? or only when my flight lost 200 ?

* Your availability, kozzmo, will not affect the tournament, as long as you are able to visit this forum on Mondays

* I-153, this plane I dont mind prohibiting it, its USSR's choice, I did want to limit its use though (no officers may use it). If you are an officer I will just subtract the kills that a player had with it from the deaths of the enemy. (I will count the deaths of the I-153 officer as punishment. (believe me, I will have updated data of everything.)

* Bombing a landing or landed enemy in CTA is ok (This is directly from Il2 1946 Hyperlobby server rules "Grounded Planes can be attacked by bombs and rockets only". It may be frustrating to explode while trying to capture an Airfield but that is where organization and team work comes in. (15 second respawn will help a little) Maps with 2 airfields must be priority option settings.

* Bombers (1/3) they are easy to kill without proper fighter support. I may change this to 1 bomber per every 2 players. However, the number of bombers used will be the team's decision.

* "Hangar E" Example: If the UK controls the UK, Ardennes, Italy, and Germany for 1 week that adds to 4500 Income that week (assuming a team Resource providers are 0% damaged. A team can save resources by purchasing Hangar A most of the time. Hangar E is meant to make it possible to fly Jets, but really limit the times they are used.

* Glitchy Strike, it takes about 2 successful bombing runs by a big bomber to destroy 1 target. Crashing into the Ground Target (kamikaze) to damage it will result in 2 week suspension (this will need to be reported)

* Translations. Philabong posted that he will translate to French, Maybe Macademic can tranlate to German. (You dont have to translate everything just what is inportant for gameplay. Tournament may be delayed until Monday, January 18.

* Arado will be impossible to reach in VIP Escort, but if a team has sacrified so much to save up 5000 resources then it is only fair to allow them to use this plane, besides; its the VIP . Anyway, it is very unlikely that a team will happen to have 5000 resources to spare at the same time that a Air Commodore is Promoted to the VIP Rank.

* 3 briefings a week = unknown number of matches. matches may take place any time, and any day as long as it is within the date limit or until a team reaches the Briefing's Cummulative Objective. Example: I am online a wednesday and irrelevant, silence and rhah are online playing COD, then I also see Varcus2 and Olife- (as always ) online. After that, Mirgervin and Macademic suddenly log in. Now it will be 4 vs 4. As long as one player on each team have the appropriate Rank, then we can play any of the 3 Game modes. We can play as many matches as we like until we get bored or decide that is better for the team to stop playing (or a player needs to leave "whatever reason"). Then, the screenshots will be sent and the data will be gathered and added. Updated data of the result of matches will be posted 2 or 3 times a week (or when a team completes a Briefing's Objective.
