Good one Danny. From what I've read on the Me-309, some versions even had a pressurized cockpit for high altitude intercepts, very unusual for a single engined fighter. Problem was that all that extra stuff made it too heavy and performance suffered. Here's a diagram showing how the nose gear would lay flat up under that big engine:

So if anyone is still interested, the homebuilt I posted back on pg 30 is a "Mini-Imp" designed by Molt Taylor back in the 70's. It has a VW engine that sits just behind the cockpit and drives a tail mounted pusher prop through a drive shaft. I want one heheheh.
