2. Poll is not necessary. Designers don't give a crap what os you use. They code for optimization of hardware. The PC Gaming OS standard is windows so they all code to the top tier version. That only leaves 64bit optimization - and multi core support. All of which have been confirmed for S.O.W Battle of Britain. Almost everyone will be on window 7 ....... so pick your flavor. I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit because I need the networking functionality .... unless you work in IT and need advanced networking features ** Almost everyone will be VERY WELL served by Home/Professional editons. Save some money that way too. Not too mention significantly fewer processes running and lower memory footprint. Last edited by 13th Hsqn Protos; 11-18-2009 at 02:51 AM. |

I'll still be on XP Pro as I won't be building a new machine for some time.

LOL!
@ Topic: Win7 64bit And for the question about DirectX: You won't have that much of a choice. If you stick with XP you are limited to DX9, if you have Vista, you can choose between DX10 and 11 and if you have Win7 you automatically have DX11 integrated. The only chance to have DX9, 10, or 11 supported is by chosing an older graphics card, but that has nothing to do with your OS and the initial question |
