We'll be lucky if the publishers pays to deploy just the one patch. So the chances of getting a quick-fix patch to bandage something that is more annoying than broken followed by another patch is slim to none. The moaning about patches for this game annoys me more than the state of the game TBH. In fact, I love the game. I look forward to the patch because of the improvements it will bring, but BoP is very playable in it's current state. |

and I heard they were releasing another patch for mw2 on friday too. I dont have a real source for that though so it may just be a rumor. And don't forget mw2 has hundreds of thousands of people playing it(maybe even millions) and BoP has what, like 100...200?

Spoken like someone who's never had to fix software. lol. ok as part of the USMC.We got orders to move from 1 base to another base .we moved 1240 men.78 trucks.12 tanks 7 helos.and all the equipment for every man across a country A ENTIRE COUNTRY all in 24 hours...So being a man that has been involved with things like this is.Tell me again how hard it is to wright some new code for a video game...WHAT A JOKE YOU little computer geeks are acting like this is some big deal for a programmer. You guys need to realize this is a video game if there jobs depended on it I bet they could wright the code in a afternoon. They maybe able to pull the wool over you young guys eyes but im a old man I know how life works THE SKWEEKY wheel gets the grease but as a group we are not skweeking enough or we would have our update already And yes thats my own spelling on the word skweeky I LIKE IT Last edited by IiI GUNNY IiI; 11-11-2009 at 09:05 PM. |

Not being a marine, I can say: "Why, that's easy, just get a couple of planes and helicopters and it's all done". I'm guessing it's not as easy as it sounds. Same with writing a code. You stick with your mentality and keep skweeking, don't attack someone who actually knows something about writing code, and act so demeaning. |

MW2 and Forza 3, got them on monday when I traded in IL-2 and Operation Flashpoint, because incompetant staff can't do their jobs. and BOTH MW2 (1 day BEFORE release as it arived EARLY in the post) and Forza 3 (how long has that been out now) AND BOTH PATCHED STRAIGHT AWAY!
1 company managed to patch it BEFORE its oficial release, so yes How hard can it be? I've traded IL-2 because they've taken the pi** and slapped the console gamers in the face with an appalling game and NO support. I'll still be on here cus there's some good convo's now and again, and some good people, but IL-2 is an epic failure, and i suspect they've learnt nothing and if there even IS a sequel, it will be equally poor. So before you rush to everyone's defence and criticise someone for saying how hard could that be? instead of saying asked y someone whose never programmed anything, how about you ask it to the people holding up the patch, I dont care WHO it is, they're ALL to blame, I dont care if it's sony, microsoft, 1c, 505 games, the Devs, Jesus, or Snoopy. They all chose to work together so it's eveybodys fault. don't bash someone for expecting a job they get PAID to do, and we all paid CASH for, to do it well and right! others can do it, so they should be expected to! 2 brand new games out and patched, even Flashpoint got a patch, shame it didnt fix anything but at least they tried. |

I've had to fix industrial software before now, and fixing one problem can introduce a host of new ones that also need fixing.
It all depends how the "Flight Envelopes" are inserted into the game. For instance, in the PC game series "Star Fleet Command", the characteristics of starships are all in a large file called a "Shiplist" and this carries a hundred figures that describe how each ship, station or object is involved in the game. In the old "Red Baron" game, each fighter had its charteristics file in with the aircraft's file. For instance, I modified an SE-5A characteristics file to include an additional invisible top mounted Lewis gun. I just added in a "1" into a column that related to any top wing mounted weaponry on an aircraft. Changing / correcting the turning circle faults with the Fw-190, P-51 and climb rate errors with the Me-262, Bf-110, etc. shouldn't be much more of a hastle than changing a few envelope varaibles. If the flight physics engine is still in need of fixing at least a interim patch to correct the above mentioned faults could be issued. On a PC version it would be user fixable, but not on consoles, alas, as we are kind of locked out. Apart from the few faults the game is still the best online WW2 console air combat simulator since BSP and BSM. It is the attention to the ground scenery that make the game so good.... even the branches of the trees sway with the wind. |

One of the devs was talking about how they had made some errors in fuel loads for some of the aircraft.
At a guess this would be along the lines of taking the max fuel load figure for the P51D (489 US Gallons with drop tanks) and confusing it with the max internal fuel load for the same plane (269 US Gallons). That is roughly 800Kg (1800lbs) added on to the weight of the plane, 20% of the normal combat load, and if this is the case it would certainly go a long way towards explaining why the P51 is slow and handles poorly in game. Same might apply to the P47, which also used high capacity drop tanks to extend range. |
