I just bump this, cause I'm amazed that not even half of HL's servers have switched to 4.09m. What's going on? Are we gonna have so many different versions active?
4.08, 4.09, modded...too many I think.
At least all "official" servers should switch to the..."official" release imo.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the main reason is mod compatibility. UI 1.2 was never intended to work with the 4.09m (official patch) content. If a server upgraded to 4.09m, mods would not be supported. I guess these servers were afraid of losing this portion of their player base.

However, an announcement has just been made that UI 1.2.5 will be released soon. It will include content from and be compatible with 4.09m. It will have a new switcher with only two options...4.09m and 4.09m Mod. This is basically what the community has wanted all along.

Once UI 1.2.5 is released, most servers will probably switch over to 4.09m.

Very new to the game, I feel a bit disappointed that I have missed out over the years on what is proving to be a great game....Stumbled in to this as I was looking for a modern WW2 combat flight sim, I saw a bit of news about Storm of War, and after visiting a few forums, I saw I was in the same boat as everyone else....and that is waiting for a release date.... Thats when I saw the IL2 had a very strong following.....
Any way getting to the point....I bought a copy of 1946, and on reading certain forums patched up to 4.09..... got used to the game playing single player, and wanted to play some multiplayer...I installed HL and found most of the popular servers were still running 4.08....... So I just installed the 4.08 patch back on top of the 4.09 patch, I can now play in the 4.08 servers.....If this is the case instead of the installation of more than one game just try to overwrite the new 4.09 with the 4.08..... worked for me.......

ps sorry to the friendlies I shot down in my 1st game....lol I just saw Red icon and automatically thought enemy, I didnt realise I was on the red team myself.......
