Practice, practice a little more, some more practice, and I think you can think of the rest. It was a big difference switching to the AV8R, but once I had it down, it was way better than the controller.

The step from gamepad to aviator was huge. So much more feeling with a joystick.
Too bad the deadzone is so big (atleast for me) its really annoying sometimes when trying to finetune the aim.

Dont really understand why m$ is selling so crappy third part stuff. Or atleast dont try to make them work properly

Back to the subject. When getting my first real ff driving wheel to carsims was a hazzle for me. I wanted to go back to my trusty old gamepad in the beginning.
Couldnt get the feeling at all for the wheel (logitech formula force EX).
But i struggled on and slowly i got used to it

Now i cant think of driving a car sim without a proper wheel

You push the hat switch in to change views. Trimming is a complete waist of time and almost impossible because the deadzone doesn't allow enough sensitivity to fine tune your pitch attitude. Other than that like the other guys said: practice. I love flying with the ace edge except for the deadzone and trim issues. Once you get used to flying and using the hat switch you won't want to go back.

Yeah last night it all started to gel alot more I feel like I am on the verge of really making the stick work for me. Its great, anyone reading this thread needs to get one if you haven't already, being able to use your rudder, throttle, and free look without inadvertently fouling one of those functions up is the only way to play, and I don't think the deadzone is all that bad, adjusting sensitivity to just the right zone helps me with that.

How much would you kill for the trim wheels on the throttle to actually work? Is there a snowball's chance in hell of them ever getting any functionality?

BTW in answer to the age old riddle: how do you play with your ace edge? (no obvious sexual innuendoes please) I skip the suction cup/velcro route all together and have found the best way is on a cushy couch with it between my legs and the base sitting down in the cushion under my legs a little bit; it holds it down steady, gives my wrists a good range of motion and also feels authentic to booot. I keep the throttle unattached and on my side, it works pretty well for me.

I use a coffee table in front of me. Works for me but my back cramps after awhile from leaning over lol. I tried the lazy boy method but it didn't work for me. If the actual trim tabs worked that would be AMAZING...so much more realistic and more accurate.
