Hmmm, technically it shouldn't be able to un-install your game since it won't be able to find the original files, since you re-named the folder. This is definitely the way I did it though.

Also, you won't have to rename the folders to use the different versions, just go into each folder and send a shortcut of the IL2.exe from each folder to your desktop and you'll have access to both versions easily.

Ok, thanks!

It worked just perfectly! So I have two versions up and running. I named the main folder ...il2 1946 MOD. When I installed the orginal I had to remove the application and all of it's features....
But no problem. The folder remained (I did make a backup anyway) and now I just tried both of them by renaming the folder to their original before I launched the game/sim.

I will try what you said to make switching even more easy. 'just go into each folder and send a shortcut of the IL2.exe from each folder to your desktop and you'll have access to both versions easily'.
