On a side note, in the real war, if a plane was shot up and smoking but was lost sight of... and the pilot nor anyone else subsequently saw the crash, it didn't count as an "official" kill.

Where have I mentioned the words 'lost sight of'? I am talking about shooting up an aircraft that subsequently I 'saw' smash into the ground with smoke pouring out its engine and holes in the wings from my shots. That counts as an 'official' kill in my book sir.

Yes it is. What Wayfindre says is maybe what the Devs were originaly trying to achieve in that you have to make sure the plane was killed before you could claim a kill. Obviously it didn't work. I will be very happy after the patch to be able to watch from high above a plane ive shot up, spin into its grave. Instead of me currently madly diving with the dieing plane trying to get enough hits before it hits the ground and I follow into the explosion with it.

Sorry. My fault. I shall try and be more clear Wayfindre:

When I shoot up an enemy aircraft to the point "I see" it crash with plumes of smoke pouring out its engines and holes in the wing from "my" shots. I think I should perhaps recieve the kill.

And so you shall... when the DEVs finish the patch.
