Well, as I understand it, BoP is still using the Il-2 engine, which was optimized for a much lower, slower flight regime, as well as the unitank fuel system. The P-51D is really best when it's high, fast, and the seat tank is empty, none of which really work well in the current engine. I suspect we will have to wait until the BoB engine before we have a good P-51.
Addendum: It would be interesting to see how an Allison Mustang handled in the Il-2 engine, though. |

One thing in its favour its got
the WEP of the GODS i read P51's could handle long periods of WEP during real flights so tried it on a training mission and had it on for a good 5 minutes without stopping. |

Yeah, it had literally 5 minutes of WEP time. In real life

Got atleast 6 minutes out of it a second time and hit 630kph in level flight at 4000m (simulation mode).
