Notice that the gun shoots continuously for over 2 minutes before it fails (at about the 2:20 mark).
As far as I can see the only thing that this shows is the stupidity of the guy pulling the trigger! Destroying a perfectly good gun barrel for his own pleasure and that of a few of his idiotic companions. No aircraft of the period could carry the amount of ammo to produce this result.
