Dear all,
I just learned something which I didn't know before which might come as good news for our members who are used to playing with Standard Layout on the PS3 Controller (Pad). Didn't know that the D-Pad (the four bottons arranged as a cross on the left side of the Pad) function as directing the view in games other than Training or Campaigns, that is in Dogfights etc. In Training and Campaigns, they are set up to give commands to your flight. Member TheMeistor pointed this out to me. He is mostly using these buttons to look around while playing with the Standard Layout, he keeps his thumbs on the sticks and is using his left pointer finger to press the respective D-Pad button. Custom Layouts didn't seem to work for Standard Layout users since when pressing R3 to look around, it doesn't cancel the other functions of the right stick (throttle/rudder) due to a bug in the Custom software. If you are used to flying with the Standard layout and set up Custom to use the D-Pad for the looking directions, you can still benefit from the greatly enhanced flying characteristics of the airplane under Custom versus the Standard Layout. In this case do not set up R3 to activate your Camera, and leave the Camera Axes blank. Unfortunately you will not have a full over the shoulder look, just sideways over the wing, but this might still be a good tradeoff. If you need help setting this up, I'll be glad to give you a hand when we meet onlline. Best, MAC |
